I love books!

It is not news to anyone that I just love books.  When I saw this young man behind me in a shopping cart at TESCO I had to take his picture.  I thought I would be able to decipher the names of the books when I got the photo, but no.  The one thing I was able to read was what it said underneath the books.  "I just wanna be with you."  Sometimes the shirts you see here have pretty bizarre or weird combinations of English words. I do not make fun of them because I couldn't write one Chinese character.  But this one spoke to me on a kid/parent/grandparent level.  "I just wanna be with you."  I just want to share a quiet book with you.  I just want to sit on your lap and hear your voice.  Everywhere I turn it is just like the U.S.  with the cellphones and games every minute of every day.  I just want to throw them out a window.

By the way, Dave and I are reading the book "The Goal" together while I'm here.  It's a manufacturing novel that Dave has his team reading for work.  I think anyone married to someone in manufacturing should read it.  It makes you go, "Oh. now I get it."  Our friend Len got Dave interested in it years ago.  I wish I would have read it then.

  1. Brenda...first, I love the photo of you and Dave at the top of your blog! Also, I feel the same way about books. Finished a good one called, "The Lemon Tree" by Sandy Tolan. I feel like I finally can understand the conflict between the Israelis and the Arabs. A must read. Glad to keep up with your life in China. Hugs, Barb
