Celebrating Forty Years of Marriage

David and I spent a lovely day together celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary on March 15th. It was perfect weather unlike the day we actually got married.

We took the subway down to Quanquin Street.  It's a walking street with lots of shops and lots of people.  It used to be full of foreigners like us, but now days it seems like it is more Chinese people.  Most foreigners live in another part of town that caters to what they like.

The streets are packed with people selling everything imaginable.  These are some bonsai plants you can buy.  I just don't get how they do this, but this one was loaded with blossoms.

I've noticed this silver shop a few times.  This young man is pounding away on pieces of silver in time with some really loud music blasting away beside him.  It's pretty cool to watch and listen to the banging of the hammer in time with the music. (Mom, you would not like this.  It is worse than the music you have to listen to in Maurice's.)  I had been secretly wishing for one of the bracelets for at least a year now.  David dragged me in there and had me pick one out for our anniversary.
This is the one I chose.  They wanted to shine it all up for me but I like the look of it this way. I love it. When I was trying to get a good picture of it without showing how old my arm is I noticed most of the hair is singed off my right arm from lighting our stove.  But that's another story.
.
We have a favorite English Pub we like to go to called Clive's or The Drunken Chef. It's a little expensive so it is a big treat to go there.  That is where David took me for lunch.  I had a typical English Shepherd's Pie with Yorkshire Pudding and Chips and Dave had a Burrito, go figure.

We had a great day and feel so blessed to be together to celebrate this milestone in our lives.

  1. The bracelet is lovely and a lot of people pay a lot of money to get rid of arm hair and here you have accomplished it all on your own!! :-) Congrats on your 40 years. A blessing indeed to share the day together. Low 80's here and then back to the 40's of Orcas as of Apr.1
